Description

So many therapists to choose from! It's overwhelming, right? What should you look for in picking a therapist? Someone who is enough like you that you can connect, and yet different enough that you can grow. It's hard to tell that from profiles, but you'll make the right decision. It takes guts to be in psychotherapy, because psychotherapy is about really looking at yourself, and seeing what you do well and what needs to be changed. It's about gradually coming to trust the relationship we build together, and using that relationship for safety, support, and feedback.

I've been a psychologist for a long time, and I've seen the tremendous changes that people can make. By visiting this site, you've taken the first step. If you decide to call me, we'll talk about what you're looking for and how I might help.

What we talk about in psychotherapy is very serious, but respectful humor can be helpful too. Do you know the joke about how many therapists it takes to change a light bulb? Only one, but the light bulb has to really want to change!

I offer LGBTQ-affirmative therapy and am a member of PFLAG, HRC, and AFFIRM, which is an organization of mental health professionals who have come out in support of our gay/lesbian family members.

In addition to individual and couple therapy, I also offer group therapy. Here is a description of my group, which meets each Thursday from 6-7:30PM:

This group, like the world, is as diverse as possible. I try to have a mix of genders, ages (adults), races, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations. The members are committed to staying in group until they have done the work they came to do. We explore individual issues as well as how people relate to each other, and we consider how the group-as-a-whole is functioning. As a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP), I believe that group therapy is a terrific way to learn about yourself and about connecting to other real people (not just your therapist!).

You are very welcome to call me at 404.231.4455 for a free phone consultation. I look forward to knowing you!
